Interview Preparation Toolkit

Research the opportunity. Build your interview plan.

Work through short, focused questions. Use the job advert, person specification, course page and employer website to gather the information you need, then turn it into a personalised interview toolkit.

Private by design: your answers remain in this browser tab and are not sent to or stored by The Hwb Collective. Closing or refreshing the page clears them.

Set-upStep 1
Your opportunity
What are you preparing for?

Choose the option that best describes the interview.

How will the interview happen?

This changes the practical checklist in your toolkit.

How soon is the interview?

The toolkit will prioritise the most useful actions for the time available.

What should your toolkit focus on?

Choose every area that would help. You can select more than one.

Add the details you know

These details will personalise the research prompts and finished PDF. Only the role or course is required.

What do you already have?

This prevents the toolkit from telling you to start again when you already have useful material.

Can you access the advert or course information?

Keep it open in another tab. You will use it to answer the next short questions.

Paste the most useful source information

Copy and paste the advert, person specification or relevant course information. You can also type the important parts manually.

Do not paste private account details, application reference numbers or confidential information.

What skills or qualities are they looking for?

Look for headings such as “essential”, “desirable”, “you will need” or “the successful candidate”. Copy the wording where helpful.

Cannot find them?Read the advert again and note repeated words. Check the person specification or course entry page.
What would you be expected to do?

Find the main duties, responsibilities, learning activities or outcomes. Focus on what you may be asked about at interview.

What have you learned about the organisation?

Use its official website. Look at the About page, services, customers or communities, current priorities and recent work.

Why does this opportunity suit you?

Connect your answer to the actual role or course, not only to needing a job or place.

Choose your first strong example

Pick one requirement from the advert, then record a real example that proves it.

Choose your second strong example

Use a different skill or quality where possible. Evidence can come from school, work, projects, home, sport, volunteering or hobbies.

Choose your third strong example

A third example gives you choices if the interviewer asks something unexpected.

Which questions are they likely to ask?

Use the duties and requirements. Turn each important point into a question, then note the evidence you could use.

What would you like to ask them?

Choose questions that help you understand the opportunity and show genuine interest. Avoid asking for information already clear in the advert.

What will remove avoidable stress?

Plan the practical details now so you can focus on answering well.

Important

This is preparation support, not a guarantee.

The toolkit uses the information you enter to organise preparation guidance. Always check the employer’s or provider’s own instructions and use genuine examples. Do not enter confidential information, particularly on a shared device.

PDF creation happens in your browser. The website does not receive your answers or email address. On supported devices, “Email or share PDF” opens the device share sheet; otherwise the PDF downloads for you to attach manually.
